Waldorf Education On Beautiful Vancouver Island

For students who want English language immersion experience, the Oak Island Waldorf School in the beautiful Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada, offers a unique opportunity. Oak Island, one hour north of the historic capital of Victoria, located in the Cowichan Valley glow.

Cowichan word, derived from the word Quw'utsun First Nations "Khowutzun," means "warm land" or "off the ground by the sun" in recognition of the area's mild climate. Is a valley of peace, culture-rich community in which the exchange and the dormitory can be more their Waldorf education, immersed in the English language.

Axel (name), a dormitory, and Yakob (name), an exchange student, both attended the Oak Island from Germany for one-half of the academic year 2008/2009. Both students get a valuable experience. "This is an opportunity to improve their skills in one of the English language," said Yakob. "Everyone helps you learn English and they do not do anything around him." Axel adds that he found his classmates are happy to help when asked. "If they know that you want them to help you, then all the help," he said. Both were found in Oak Island students will be welcome and friendly.

Both students also lauded the faculty to make learning fun. "You learn, but learning a fun," said Axel. "You can go to class again." They note that the small class sizes in the Oak Island to create educational experiences that one more time, so that every student the opportunity to receive individual attention.

This intimacy provides the space to work out problems and offer opportunities for students and faculty to make decisions together. "It's one of the students' ability to make decisions about life," said Yakob, appreciatively. Another is to learn a foreign opportunity to try a different one environment to help make decisions about where to attend university.

Axel is a self-described "city people" but want to try to change the life of the city and have enjoyed to see deer up close and Raccoon. "Nature is extraordinary," he said. The island is enjoying an abundance of wildlife, including black bears, Roosevelt elk, bald eagles, and around the ocean, killer whales (orca), sea lions, sea otters and porpoises. Interestingly, no skunks, grizzly bear or rattlesnake on Vancouver Island.
